Washington Inquest Ordered Into Sea-Tac Death

SEATTLE, Washington -- King County, Washington Executive Ron Sims has ordered an inquest into the death of a Seattle, Washington bank executive who died at Sea-Tac Airport.

The inquest was recommended by King County, Washington prosecutors because Desseria Whitmore died in custody.

The 52-year-old was a longtime assistant vice president at Bank of America. She was stopped Oct. 25 by airport security guards who found a pipe in her luggage.

An autopsy attributed Whitmore's death to acute cocaine intoxication and suffocation from swallowing a plastic bag containing the drug.

The inquest will be conducted by a district court jury to answer questions about the death. The prosecutors office will use the information to decide whether any charges should be filed.
